Our Story

Brittany Pate, nutritionist and founder of Official Vegans Only, has a passion for cooking and improving overall health. It brings her joy to see people smile. She started watching her grandmother cook with fresh ingredients picked from her garden every summer and also learned techniques from her extended Chicago family. Brittany started cooking full meals at the age of 11 for her whole family and has been preparing delicious meals for the past 23 years.

Brittany was inspired by her daughter who wanted to change her diet to improve her skin health. After two weeks of a vegan diet she decided she would never go back. The benefits were extreme and completely changed her daily life in the best way possible. Finding herself again, she wanted to spread awareness and convince people that it's not as hard as it seems to make the change and you won't regret that you did. Vegan is the best choice and we want to enjoy our food, so Brittany committed herself to getting creative and making delicious foods.

Behind the Name

One day, early into the vegan transition, Brittany was coming home with groceries for her four children. Her oldest daughter, who was completely committed to the change, seen that in the bags was a new found vegan ice cream and she was extremely excited about this. As she puts away the treat into the freezer, she announces to all the other children that they can't touch HER ice cream. She emphasizes by yelling out "This ice cream is OVO!". Then proceeds to explain that this means "Official Vegans Only" to lay claim to the food that she is able to eat. So this became the new way and as all the children transitioned, it was decided that our company would be named this and we would welcome everyone to be a part of our club!
